Miami Neuroscience Center Team Published in FLANC International Magazine.

Larkin Community Hospital congratulates the Miami Neuroscience Center team on their two recent publications in the Spanish-language scientific journal, Federación Latinoamericana de Sociedades de Neurocirugía (FLANC).

 

The publications were coauthored by Drs. Jose E. Valerio, Neurosurgical Oncologist, Andres Alvarez-Pinzon, Neuro-Oncology Post-Doctoral Fellow, Sammie Coy, Neuro-Physicist and Aizik Wolf, Medical Director.

The Miami Neuroscience Center at Larkin offers treatment of brain tumors with Gamma Knife, a non-invasive neurosurgical tool. This year, the MNC team has presented more than 20 clinical studies on the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, brain metastases, and other central nervous system disorders. The Miami Neuroscience Center team is passionate about improving the quality of life of patients and providing the very best treatment options.

Miami Neuroscience Center and Larkin Community Hospital Participate in Important Pain Medicine Meeting

Congratulations to our team at the Miami Neuroscience Center and the Larkin Community Hospital Anesthesiology Department on participating in the 14th Annual Pain Medicine Meeting. The conference was held by the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine in Miami Beach on November 19th to 21st.

Our team was represented by Drs. Luciana Curia, Andres M. Alvarez-Pinzon, Jose Valerio, Juan Cucalon, Norvan Vartevan and  Aizik Wolf. Over 1,000 physicians from around the world participated in the meeting to learn about new skills and research in Pain Medicine.

Our team’s presentations were:

  1. Efficacy of Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and Retrogasserian balloon compression in Trigeminal Neuralgia refractory for prior Gamma Knife Radiosurgery.
  2. Outcomes after Minimally Invasive Surgical Treatment of Intractable Facial Pain from Trigeminal Neuralgia in patients with Multiple Sclerosis.
  3. Prospective, observational, clinical study evaluating the efficacy of percutaneous Retrogasserian balloon compression for the treatment of primary Trigeminal Neuralgia.

Miami Neuroscience Center Team Presents at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons

The Miami Neuroscience Center congratulates the team on another successful presentation at the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), which took place on September 26-30th in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Jose E. Valerio gave a podium presentation on the “Viability of Second Gamma Knife Radiosurgery vs. Percutaneous Retrogasserian Balloon Compression for Primary Trigeminal Neuralgia” coauthored by Andres M. Alvarez-Pinzon, MD, MSc, PhD(c), Sam Coy, PhD, Marcos Sanchez Gonzalez, MD, PhD, and Aizik L. Wolf, MD.

The team also created two poster presentations on
“Clinical Outcomes of Gamma Knife Radiosurgery in the Primary Treatment of Patients with High-grade Glioma” and a “Retrospective, Single Center Study Evaluating the Efficacy of GK in Primary CNS Lymphoma in HIV Patients.”
